Achieving Health Equity – A Public Health Approach

Achieving Health Equity – A Public Health Approach

This panel explores different approaches and perspectives for tackling the root causes of health inequity in public health practice. Many practitioners are learning that conventional practice, through the provision of health programs and services, while absolutely necessary, cannot prevent the ongoing generation of health inequities, which continue to increase along with social and economic inequality. Practitioners and analysts, based on recent research and experience are searching for more long-term approaches that directly engage policy, racism, class, and gender issues. Panelists address the policies, procedures, and unnoticed public narratives that perpetuate health inequities and identified opportunities for more intensive, coordinated action with allies.
